Energy star makes the following recommendations for ceiling fan diameter.
Determine proper ceiling fan size.
For larger rooms with a square footage around 225 a 50 to 54 inch 130 to 140 cm blade.
A small 10 x 10 room could accommodate a 48 to 72 fan.

For rooms between 75 and 144 square feet your ceiling fan should have a diameter of 36 to 42 inches.
